6 days tour of Fishing Tribes of Sudd Swamp.
OVERVIEW
Sudd Swamp Tours
Sudd swamp is the biggest swamp in Africa and the second largest in the whole world. It sits in the middle of South Sudan and covers an average area of 30,000 square kilometres and during the rainy season, it can cover an area of more than 130,000 square kilometres. The Sudd is fed by many tributaries from the west and east of the country and they all join the Nile River at some point in the swamp and flow north. Due to overgrown Papyrus, aquatic grass, and water hyacinth the swamp has become isolated over time and has become a safe haven for fish, crocodiles, hippos, and many bird species (including the endangered and migratory birds).
The sudd swamp is also home to many isolated lakes and Fishing islands that are used for fishing by the fishing tribes. Over years these lakes have attracted many tourists that want to catch the largest Nile Perch in the world and as well as bird watching especially to catch a glimpse of one of the most secretive birds called the shoebill.
For your South Sudan tours and Safari, this can be a great choice to start with the country.
